Where should I fly in?
The closest airport is South Bend International (SBN) in Indiana, just about 35 minutes away. For more flight options into larger cities, Chicago Midway (MDW) and Grand Rapids (GRR) are the next closest, each about 90 minutes from the house. Chicago O’Hare (ORD) is also a good option, but keep in mind that you’ll be driving through Chicago traffic -- so try to avoid rush hour if possible. You can also take the Amtrak train from Chicago to downtown St. Joseph, which is only 5 miles from our house.
Can I Uber or use ride-share apps around St. Joseph?
While food delivery apps are available in St. Joseph, ride-share apps are not reliable here yet. If you’re flying in, we highly recommend renting a car or arranging transportation in advance. There are also limo and shuttle services available in the area, especially for wine tours and group outings.
Wait, I’m an influencer -- can I post pics?
Absolutely! Personal photos from your stay are welcome (and encouraged). Sponsored or brand-collaboration posts without our prior consent are not permitted. If you’d like to book the property specifically for a professional photoshoot or video shoot, please reach out to us directly.
Can I book this house for a photoshoot?
Yes -- we welcome professional photoshoots and video shoots, but these must be booked separately from overnight stays. Please contact us to discuss details and availability.
Can I bring my pet?
Sorry, no pets are allowed. The only exception is trained service animals as required by law.
Can I bring my kid?
Our property is 21+ only. With open staircases, balconies, railings, a hot tub, and vintage design elements, it’s not safe for children.
What is there to do in the area?
We’re located just 2 miles from Lake Michigan beaches, plus wineries, breweries, and charming shops in St. Joseph. Here are a few of our faves: Silver Beach, Silver Beach Pizza, RyeBelle’s, Bistro on the Boulevard, Bit of Swiss Bakery, Tosi’s Restaurant, Mason Jar Café, Dairy Korner, Lemon Creek Winery, Peat’s Cider Social, Celebration Cinema, Captain Mike’s Fun Park, and Warren Dunes State Park.
Do you have a hot tub?
Yes! A private outdoor hot tub with wooded views is available year-round. Please review our house rules for safe use.
Can I get married there?
While Sweetheart Hideaway is perfect for a romantic getaway, it is not a wedding venue. Small ceremonies, parties, or large gatherings are not permitted. That said, if you’d like to inquire about hosting an event of any size, please feel free to reach out.
Is this your house or is this an Airbnb?
It’s both! Sweetheart Hideaway is our forever home, but we also open it up as a vacation rental so others can enjoy the space and design we’ve created.
